The chapter describes the contemporary business internationalisation theories explaining global business characteristics, which are based on a company’s or product’s international competitiveness. The chapter introduces Raymond Vernon‘s theory of the product life cycle, Steffan Linder‘s theory of country similarity, Paul Krugman and Kelvin Lancaster‘s theory of global strategic competition, and Porter‘s theory of competitive advantage. The acceleration of globalisation means that we find more and more companies or goods in the world that are very difficult to identify as belonging to any one country. Companies are established in different countries, and only the country of the headquarters has been accepted as the country of the company. So that was the time to come product/company based theories.
